Pathway 3 Engagement
Positive Engagement and Relationships
We work on building trust and strong connections with our students by really listening to what they have to say – their likes, dislikes, and what motivates them (as part of our UNICEF Rights Respecting School commitment). We also involve families and carers to get a fuller picture of each student’s needs and make sure we're providing the best support for them.
Mindful and Skilled Staff
Our staff are dedicated to understanding and supporting each student’s individual needs. They reflect on their practice and work as a team to create learning strategies that help students engage with the Pathway 3 curriculum.
Staff Training
Our staff come with a wide range of skills to support students in all areas. They receive ongoing training in key areas like safeguarding, medical needs, and classroom management to ensure they can offer the best care and support.
Work with other Professionals
We collaborate with different professionals to support student learning and well-being. We have an artist-in-residence who works with our Post-16 students and our speech and language therapy assistant helps students across the Pathway with communication goals. We employ the services of an Educational Psychologist who works with staff to ensure students feel safe, secure, and supported.
Community
Where appropriate we offer work experience opportunities to some Post-16 students to gain real-life experience.
Our aim is to help students learn and grow within the local community, preparing them for life beyond school.
Transitions
We organise Pathway 3 transition days to help students think about what’s next. Leavers create a workshare to showcase their work, and we encourage former students to come back to talk to current students about their next steps. We also help students learn how to cope with change and adjust to new environments, discussing how it feels to visit new places and how change can be a positive experience.
